Not So Incredible

It was a normal Monday morning where I had finished breakfast and ready to make my move to work. There was nothing unusual about that particular morning and the weather was nice just like most weekday mornings before that…

I opened the door to my car and started to negotiate the just-enough-for-me gap between the steering wheel and the front edge of the driver’s seat. You need skills to do that.

I have been doing this almost everyday of my driving life and yet nothing prepared me for what was going to happen this morning.

As I was about to complete the get-into-my-small-car routine, I could feel that my wallet, which was always put in the front pocket of my pants, got somehow stuck on the steering wheel. Not that it was something unusual…

So, I just kept on sitting and then I could hear, “rrriiippp….”

It was nothing loud but was clearly audible and instinctively I ran my fingers toward the direction of the sound and “Yikes!” I could feel the skin of my thigh! That confirmed the not so incredible hulk sensation that I felt while I was sitting down… Yes! I had a tear that can easily fit an apple just below the pocket of my pants.

That was it. The pants are now put to RIP…

And now I wonder… Was that due to:

1. The pants have had better days?
2. Me getting bigger for the pants?
3. Me getting bigger for the car?
4. Me turning into a not so incredible hulk?
