September 16
Sep 16th, 2008 by papabear
Every year September 16th marks two historical events in Malaysia. The first one is the formation of Malaysia in 1963 from Malaya, which gained independence from the British in 1957. I personally call this the birthday of Malaysia. So, happy 45th birthday Malaysia!
The second event that is being celebrated here is the Hari Angkatan Tentera Malaysia or the Malaysian Armed Forces day. Today is their 75th anniversary. It is a day that we should give our gratitude to those who risk their lives to protect the country.
However, this year there was two additional events that are worth mentioning here. The first one is the fall of two giant financial firms, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch that have caused stock markets to go down globally and Malaysia is included adding more bad news to the current ailing economy.
I am no expert in this global financial stuffs but to let two strangers with funny names such as Lehman and Lynch to bring down your economy is somewhat ridiculous…
Last but not least, while other Malaysians are bracing for the effect of the current global financial crisis and other not so happy events, the leader of the opposition party, Anwar Ibrahim and his supporters who are bent to topple the government have miserably failed today.
As such he has now given a new date to take over the government and that is like me giving a new date to start my exercise. Now, if you know how hard it is to become the Prime Minister of Malaysia, then you will know how hard it is to start my fitness plan…
If Anwar has not given up then there is still hope for me…
*Pic: Tugu Negara, literally the “National Monument” in Malay, is a sculpture that commemorates those who died in Malaysia’s struggle for freedom, principally against the Japanese occupation during World War II and the Malayan Emergency , which lasted from 1948 until 1960. It is located in the Federal capital, Kuala Lumpur.

The collapse of the US giants are shocking. We will indirectly feel it, and the govt will then increase petrol price by RM1 because of that. LOL

Hahaha. I’m not pro Anwar, he sucks. I’m not pro anyone at the mo, they all suck. Both really wants to be PM now, talks about desperados. One desperately hang on being a PM, another desperately want to be one. Geez, same lar they all ni.
I don’t quite get the fact why he wants to be PM NOW? Why not deliver all the promises, makes Malaysia a better place, economically, plitically, socially (and whatever promises they made)…. and then 5 years come in a blink of an eye, it’s time for another GE.
IF they are really really good, which might not be a hard competition looking at our gomen now…. they’d definitely run the country! And when that happens, let’s see if Anwar will fcked (metaphorically speaking hehe), his own team-mates to be THE PM.
But of course 5 years is too long for him. He has been waiting for this moment at least for the last 10 yrs isn’t?
PS: Sorry for the rants
Coming from Daniel’s blog and I’m high on something, hahahahaha!
