What Day Is It?

Posted on the September 17th, 2008 under Life by Papa Bear

nuzul quranIt was a regular morning. I checked the appointment calendar on my phone and there was none today so I packed my things and headed to the office. Nothing seemed unusual on the road today. The 0900 hours traffic was like any other morning on a Wednesday.

As I looked for my usual parking spot near the office, I noticed that there were not that many cars parked. That was not like a normal Wednesday morning at all. I looked around for the spots where my colleagues always parked and they were empty. Then it hit me! Doink!

Today is September 17th and that means it is also Ramadhan 17th. Today is Nuzul Quran. I knew it! In fact I even read about it at  KNizam Artwek. How could I missed that?

Nuzul Quran = Selangor Darul Ehsan = State Public Holiday

Oh boy! “What am I doing at work?” I saw the parking attendance walking to my car. I got out of the car and walked over to the office pretending that I knew exactly what I was doing. I got to the front door and as expected it was firmly shut. Nobody came today…

I called up one of my colleagues and she had a good laugh! I walked back to the car and the parking man asked me whether I am going to go home already or what. I told him that I was just picking up something from the office and now I am going to go out and will not be coming back. I had no intention of giving him the pleasure of laughing at me, okay!

I called up my wife and she had a good laugh too. Me to myself: “How could I make this mistake?” Then, I had a good laugh at myself too. That’s okay since the parking guy did not get to laugh at me. I even told him that today is a public holiday and so there would not be that many car coming to park. I told him that with an absolute confidence!

Now you know. Now you can have a good laugh too! A good laugh is good for your health and I am doing you a favor. That is okay! The parking man did not know and he did not get to laugh at me… So, let’s laugh!

Anyway, for those who have no idea what Nuzul Quran is, it is the commemoration of the revelation of the Holy Quran that falls on the 17th of Ramadhan and is one of the highlights of the holy month of Islam.
