Habis baca blog asam pedesnya elisa.. jadi bengong sendiri liat bumbu2 yg gak biasa dikuping.. googling deee… nemu rumus2 penting buat baca resep2 berbahasa inggris… disimpen disini ya.. sapa tau berguna buat temen2 yg lain juga..

Indonesian = English

Asem Jawa = tamarind
Bawang Merah = shallot
Bawang Putih = garlic
Bawang bombay = onion
Daun Jeruk = kaffir lime leaf
Daun Kemangi = holy/sweet/thai basil *
Daun Pandan = pandan leaf or screwpine leaf
Daun Salam = salam leaf **
Gula Jawa = palm sugar (NOT BROWN SUGAR!)
Jahe = ginger
Jeruk Nipis = lime
Jeruk Purut = kaffir lime
Jinten = cumin/caraway seed
Kapulaga = cardamon
Kayumanis = cinnamon
Kemiri = candle nut
Kencur = lesser galangal/zedoary
Ketumbar = coriander/cilantro
Kunyit = turmeric
Lengkuas/Laos = galangal
kembang Pekak/lawang = star anise
Sereh = lemon grass
Temu Kunci = finger roots
Adas = fennel
Pala = nutmeg

* compare to holy/sweet basil, thai basil has the closest flavour to kemangi
** curry leaf bisa jadi alternatif kalo daun salam not available.
