AFF Suzuki Cup 2010: Malaysia is in the Final

Posted on the December 18th, 2010 under Bear time by Papa Bear

Malaysia is through to the Final of AFF Suzuki Cup 2010 after a scoreless game in the second leg of the semi-final against Vietnam in Hanoi, Vietnam. Malaysia took a defensive stance throughout the game where Vietnam was in possession of the ball almost the entire game. Malaysia will now wait for the result between Indonesia and Philippines for the team that will join them in the Final.

Earlier in the news today, Vietnam’s coach, Henrique Calisto accused the that the Malaysian fans was the reason for the defeat of his team in Kuala Lumpur.

“Malaysia won (on Wednesday) without fair play. They won because of laser in my players’ eyes. The referee too must play an important role and not let what happened in Malaysia happen again,” said Calisto, who on Wednesday faulted China’s Sun Baojie for favouring Malaysia in the first leg. Quoted from NST online.

Didn’t he know that we have lots of Star Wars fans in Malaysia? Therefore, laser is something that everyone brings around for protection or fighting… “The Force is strong with the Malaysian team this year”, said Yoda.

Anyway, watched the game live on TV1. As usual, the game started at 8:00 pm but TV1 insisted (just my guess) that their news were more important than the game that will determine whether Malaysia will be in the final or not thus showing the live streaming from Hanoi only at 8:30…

It was a heart pounding 90 minutes as Vietnam was showering the Malaysian goal from the start. I am not sure what formation that the Malaysian team was using but from the game it looked like they were playing 9-0-1 most of the time. The whole team was in defense except for the lone striker Safee Sali. Well, the important thing is that they held Vietnam and entered the Final with an aggregate score of 2 – 0.

Congratulation Malaysia!
