I have just received another payment from myLot for my posting activities in November 2008. Why do I choose mLot even though many bloggers are telling me that there are other paid-to-post sites that are paying more out there? The answer is really simple. Here are the list of why myLot is my choice:

Firstly, in myLot, you can write about almost anything for as long as you are not writing something that is against or violating the provided guidelines. Most other paid-to-post sites require that you write your article based on a certain categories or based on the assignment given to you with a certain dateline. I am no good with assignments as I write what and when I want to write.

Then, on some other sites, the amount that you can earn is pretty much fixed whereas the amount that you can earn on myLot is dependent directly on your own effort. The more your write and the better quality your writing is would be translated to your earnings. 

On some sites, you would only get paid if your postings are voted by other people, If no one votes on your posting, you would not be getting anything. On myLot, it does not really matter if you your posting are read or not as the post itself is already counted to receive some earnings.

These are just some of the reasons why I choose to post on myLot and not other sites. In summary, the flexibility and the less formal environment on myLot are the main criteria that I considered.

Mission accomplished! After successful withdrawal of money from PayPal to my Public Bank Visa Electron, I had decided to give Tune Money Visa a try. Since I managed to successfully verify my PayPal using the Tune Money Visa, I believe it should not be a problem withdrawing money to the card. Furthermore, I am already using the Public Bank card for my PayPal Premier account and therefore, I can only use the Tune Money for my PayPal Personal account…

Based on previous experience with Public Bank, the money would be in within 4 or 5 working days. I made the withdrawal from PayPal on the 21^st November 2008 and if calculated based on 7 working days, which is the longest number of days mentioned by PayPal, the money should be in latest by 2nd December 2008…

On 29th November 2008, Azrin made a shocking comment that Tune Money might have problems receiving money from PayPal. That was right after the end of the 5th working day and I logged in to Tune Money to check for the money and it was not there…

$105 may not be big to some people but it’s a huge deal for me… That is at least 3 years of hosting fee covered!

Then I got worried! I started hunting for some horror stories about PayPal and Tune Money, hoping to find none but I got a few…

The first one was at Blog Marketing Malaysia by Steven Wong who mentioned this:

Tune Money Debit Card works out able to help us to withdraw Paypal fund, indeed, it is another good news for us as SOHO who keen to know more options for us. Apparently I believe it is not ready for PayPal yet.

I know that it’s an old post dated 20^th November 2007 but that is enough to give me the chill… Further hunting led me to an entry at Paying Off Credit Card Debt Fast and this is what was mentioned there:

It has got nothing to do with PayPal. PayPal completed the transaction on the 15th! Even if Tune Money wants to believe that it’s because of PayPal, then let’s assume that PayPal needs 7 days (Trust me, PayPal never takes 7 days) to complete the transaction, the money should have arrived in my Tune Money Visa debit card account on the 22th. Today is the 28th!

That post was dated 28^th September 2008! That was just a few months back… I went on further and found another one… This last one (I did not feel like looking for more) dated 26^th October 2008 was really scary. It is at Credit Card Debt Mama Pays Off Credit Card Debts and here is what was said:

My PayPal funds withdrawn on the 15th September finally arrived safely in my Tune Money Visa debit card on the 23rd October. 38 days!

It’s PayPal that caused the delay. Not Tune Money. It’s not Tune Money’s fault, but PayPal.

However, this post put the blame on PayPal and not Tune Money and that made things worse…

Anyway, I decided to wait until the end of the 7^th working day and that was yesterday. I checked it again at Tune Money and there was still nothing there. So, I wrote an email asking Tune Money to check the transaction from PayPal. As of the time that this post was started, I have not got any reply from Tune Money…

This morning, at about 2am, I logged in to my Tune Money to check my money again and guess what? I saw a new balance in my account. I checked the transaction and it is confirmed that the PayPal money is in. So, it was not within 5 to 7 working days but it was after the 7^th working days… What a relief!

The rate that I got was not bad at $1 = RM3.602

So, now I have concluded that I have been able to confirm that Tune Money Prepaid Visa Card and Public Bank Visa Electron Debit Card can be used for PayPal withdrawal in Malaysia.

Based on discussions with my friends, it is advisable to use other cards to withdraw your PayPal money. I will be withdrawing back to my Public Bank Visa Electron card and this will be my first and last PayPal withdrawal using Tune Money. All the best to you!

This quick tutorial is dedicated to Malaysian PayPal users who have not tried withdrawing their PayPal money or have doubts that they can actually withdraw their PayPal money to a debit card issued by selected banks or companies.

In this tutorial, I will be withdrawing my PayPal money to my Tune Money Prepaid Visa card. For your information, I have successfully withdrawn PayPal money to my Public Bank Visa Electron Debit card before. This is also applicable to credit cards issued by selected banks in Malaysia but since I do not use any credit card so do not ask me about which credit card that you can use.

Before you start, make sure that your PayPal account has been verified with the card that you are going to withdraw your money to. If you have not done that, please do that and come back to this tutorial later.

1. Log in to your PayPal account.



2. Click Withdraw.



3. Click Withdraw funds to your card. Note the $5.00 Cost indicated there.



4. Enter the amount that you need inclusive of the $5.00 fee and select the card that you want to receive the money to. Click Continue when done.



5. Verify all the information and then click Confirm to proceed.



6. Done. It is a simple process and that should take you less than 5 minutes to complete. Now you can sit back and wait for the money to arrive into your card within the next 5 to 7 working days. I had previously received my money into my Public Bank Visa Electron in 4 days time.

So now you can start earning into your PayPal and then get the money into your card and spend it as you wish.

Last month I wrote a post introducing a program that you can make some side incomes with and some of the people who read that were quick to point out that myLot is a scam site and we should stay away from it.

Some preferred to wait until the day that I received my payment from myLot and now, your waiting is over since early this morning, I have received an email from PayPal that says… Read below:

Anyway, I have been tracking my progress for November 2008. This is done to ensure that I would be able to reach the next minimum payout level of $10 by the end of this month.

The graph above is showing my earnings on myLot up to the 11^th. I have set a daily target of $0.35 a day to make sure that by the end of the month I would get at least $10. You can see some obvious drops during the weekends as I spent more time with the family during that time. The rest are done during break time at work.

The above is my accumulated earnings plotted against the accumulated target. From here I can easily see whether I need to spend extra time or just post as usual. I can actually take a day off based on the graph above.

That is the message that I have been waiting for from myLot since I started my first post in September 14, 2008. Then due to the recent Raya holidays, I have less time to post and November being my first full month on myLot, I  managed to squeeze in some more posts to make it to the payout.

I must have been outdated since I only know how FPX works after talking to Lankapo recently and reading his blog on Tune Card.

So, for the benefit of other outdated Tune Card users like me out there who does not know how FPX works, I have come up with this short tutorial on how to reload your money via FPX.

Why do you want to use FPX and not the other methods mentioned by Tune Money? Apart from saving yourself from a long queue or wait at the banks or post office and filling up those not so friendly form, reloading via FPX is much cheaper and your account will be updated in real time. No more waiting!

As you can see, it only cost RM 0.50 to reload via FPX compared to RM 2.00 at the banks and post office.

Follow the steps below to reload your Tune Card.

1. Disable the pop up blocker on your web browser temporarily as the processing requires a few pop up screens.
2. Log in to your Tune Money account and look for the Reload Money link. It should be on the right sidebar.



3. Click Reload Money.



4. Enter Reload Amount. (Minimum is RM 50.00) and click Next.



5. Select FPX and click Next.



6. Accept the terms, enter your email address and choose a bank that you have online banking facility with.
7. Click Submit.



8. Log in to your bank account.



9. Request PAC (depends on your bank) and wait for the SMS on your mobile phone.



10. Click Next



11. Enter the PAC that you have received and specify the account for withdrawal.
12. Click Submit.



13. Once you received the Transaction Status as Successful, your Tune Card has been reloaded.
14. Click Close



15. FPX will also automatically log out from you bank account.
16. Click Close.



17. You will then get you confirmation on the successful reload.
18. Note: Processing time depends on the speed of your connection.
19. The end.

Are you looking for some ways to get some side incomes from your blog? Project Wonderful is an excellent program where you can sell your ad space to people for them advertise their products or sites.

I have just got my second payment from them and one thing that I noticed so far is that payment is processed fast and you will get your money in your PayPal within one or two days.

Let me tell you something about this program. Firstly, there are many ad types that you can choose but the most popular size is the 125 x 125 box. You can see this on my side bar just below the Nuffnang ad. I have put it into 2 rows by 2 columns and this layout can be controlled and decided by you. If you scroll further down my side bar, You can see that I have also used a 300 x 250 ad size just above the Adsense.

Then you can also decide whether yo want to approve all ads before they are displayed, or only approve those ads from advertisers that you have not approved before or automatically approve all ads. I choose the auto option since I do not want to miss any ad request from my potential advertisers.

On top of that, you can set your ad rating so that the system will filter the advertisers and their ads. For example, if you do not want to accept NSFW ads, then you just simply set that option and the system will do the rest for you.

So, if you have some space to rent on your blog and your other ads not giving you the money that you want, give this a try and who knows, this might work for you as it is working for me.

I have posted about my huge frustration with Tune Money here and that problem was not resolved shortly after that. May be it’s fated on just a mere coincidence, that post got the attention of Lankapo, who is a strong advocate of Tune Money and things started to get better from that point on.

He suggested me to post a complaint on Tune Money’s CEO personal blog and he also gave me the email address of the CEO in case things still does not move. Talk about a good connection that I can benefit from and not wasting anytime, I posted a complaint at that blog under a topic that is not at all relevant to the Tune debit card. I thought it would just be deleted and never be published but I was proven wrong. It was posted there!

So, I decided to wait for awhile and see how things would go from there. Nothing really happen but knowing that I have another bullet in my arsenal (the email address), I made another call to the Customer Service yesterday.

This time the person who picked up the call seemed to be more knowledgeable, professional and better train than the others that I had spoken to before. That was more like talking to a customer services representative compared to like talking to some jokers many times before.

I told him that the problem has been dragging too long and I am going to personally write to his CEO if this problem could not be resolved fast. There was a moment of silence when I mentioned about emailing the CEO and he promised that he would make sure that this problem would be escalated to the right person immediately.

It could be the complaint posted at the CEO’s blog. It could be about me shooting an email to the CEO or it could be another coincidence that the problem was about to be resolved but whatever the reason was, today I received 3 missed calls (I was not near the phone when the calls came in) from Tune Money and when I called them back, I was told that everything about my account has been resolved.

I just checked my balance online a few minutes ago and yes, everything is in order. At least for now until I try to actually use it. With that, I am giving Tune Money a second chance.

On the other hand, this is another proof about the power of blogging and that is not a waste of time as well as it is always good to know some “people” in our life.

This goes to Malaysian readers who are planning to get a debit card or a prepaid Visa card especially to be used for withdrawing funds from PayPal and for eBay payments. Tune Money.com is a provider of a debit card or prepaid Visa card called Tune Card and has been aggressively promoting it all over the country.

Based on some people who claimed that they have managed to withdraw their PayPal funds to this card, I had decided to apply for one as a backup to my Public Bank Visa Electron debit card that I have successfully been using to withdraw my PayPal money to. Then the nightmares began…

The application process was easily done online but the events following that make me regret my decision to try them.

1. The first thing that you need to do after the application was to go to CIMB bank or a Post Office to deposit your initial money of RM 50.00. When I submitted the deposit form to the teller, it took her 15 minutes to figure out how to process the payment. I found this to be ridiculous for a bank that is supposed to handle the Tune Card transactions was having problems processing a simple deposit.
2. After depositing your money, they promised to deliver your card to the Post Office of your choice after 7 working days. I finally managed to collect mine after 21 working days after having to make several calls to their Customer Services, who by the way are a bunch of people with very little experience dealing with customers and cards related matters.
3. After I got my card, I had to activate my card online and when I tried to do that on 11/8/2008, their website was down for the whole day. I called up the Customer Services and they promised to activate my card but I found out later that they never did.
4. On 12/8/2008, I logged in to my account and found that the card was still in process. I called up the Customer Services and they told me that my balance is -RM 9.99. I asked them about my RM 50.00 deposit and they said that there was a problem with the system and asked me to fax my deposit receipt to them. Imagine if you have deposited thousands of RM into your card and you have lost your receipt!
5. On 13/8/2008, I called again to verify whether they have received my fax or not. Do not bother to wait for them to call you since they would not be bothered to do so. After, calling twice, then only I was told that the claim has been processed and the best part is that they could not promised when the problem can be resolved. Imagine if you have your money stuck there!
6. As I write this, the problem has not been resolved. “Where’s my money?”

So, if you are looking for a debit card, beware of Tune Money. I am not tell you not to apply for it but just to be prepared for the possibility of having to go through what I am going through now.

If you need a reliable debit card to be used with your PayPal or eBay, go for Public Bank Visa Electron. It is proven to work and no such problem as described above. It works as an ATM card for Public Bank as well.

If you need a debit card just for non-online shopping, go for Maybank Visa debit card as it is free and works as an ATM card for Maybank as well. You can change your current ATM card to the new debit card FOC.

I think in the case of Tune Money, the culprit is not the product. It is the inexperienced and sometimes unprofessional people (referring to the Customer Services staffs who promised to call back but never did) running it as well as the unreliable back end system. If those are resolved, the product could be worth considering.
