Empang Jaleh

Empang Jaleh – another nature’s wonder in Kuala Lipis, Pahang, Malaysia.

I will be leaving for Jakarta in a few hours. I had finished my packing. I could not sleep. Since I have this last entry to do before I go off, I might as well do it now.

I went there with my family on January 31, 2006. It was a hot afternoon and the water was murky. So, we stayed for awhile and then left. It was just a mission to satisfy our curiosity and we did just that.

If you love nature than this is another place to be.

The Fritter Lady

Posted on the February 11th, 2006 under Daily Living by

I was there again, just like any other weekends before this. As I approached the stall, she was already smiling. That middle aged lady was never exiguous when it came to smiling.

The stall taken from my balcony.

The school compound is visible in the background.

FL: “Lamo tok napok? Baru ari ni jjupo lagi.” (Haven’t seen you for a long time? Only today I see you again.)

She greeted me to which, I replied with a smile. Normally, there would be others before me. Therefore, she would be conversing with the others while I just picked up what I wanted and paid. But today, there was no one there. So, knowing her liking for striking a conversation with her customers, It didn’t surprise at all.

FL: “Nok brapo?” (How much do you want?)

BB: “Dua Ringgit je.” (Two Ringgit only.)

FL: “Anok tok skoloh sini ko?” (Aren’t your child going to school here?)

Okay, now that was a litlle bit of surprise… My child? Hello Mam! I am not even married. But somehow, I didn’t feel offended and just replied:

BB: “Dok.” (No.)

Why should I? She’s a nice lady and her banana fritters are really good! After all, she was just trying to be friendly. And after a few bites, I assumed that she was referring to my niece who came to visit me during the school holidays.

The yummy banana fritters!

The moral of the story: If your banana fritters are good. You can say anything to your customers and they will still be coming back!
