Splendid, Jusco & Ayam Penyet AP

Posted on the January 30th, 2010 under Food,Out and About,Shopping by

It was a rather busy day for us. Mama Pasha had to buy some stuffs for Iffat’s birthday cake that need to be delivered on Sunday and we had to get some red and white clothing for the same event…

After Mama Pasha got her stuffs, we went looking for lunch around our place in Section 9, Shah Alam. Pasha opted for one of his favourites, the happy meal from Mc D. Chicken nuggets, fries, ice milo and a transformer toy were enough to satisfy his hunger… Pantang nampak Mc D si Pasha nih…

As for us, we bumped into a familiar looking restaurant and we went in thinking it was the same restaurant that was there. Everything inside was still the same until we got the menu. Oh boy! Noodle Station was gone and now replaced by Splendid, a cake house and cafe… Anyway, we went ahead and ordered two mushroom chicken chops.

The chicken chop of Splendid…

The verdict… Unless you are very hungry and could not walk any further, do not order the chicken chop… It was salty and the chicken tasted like it has been sitting in the freezer for ages… Tak sedap….

Done with lunch, we went over to IOI Mall in Puchong since the red Thomas jumpsuit size for Pasha that we saw in Shah Alam was only available at the Dolyphin (the spelling is right) outlet there. Then we went over to Jusco to get some costumes for Mama Pasha and Papa Bear.

Pasha was obviously already tired and he was cranky most of the time. He was in a hyper mood and at one time he decided to time himself out…

Pasha timing out himself… You can see the legs…

By hiding behind some dresses….

After Jusco we went to Giant in Bandar Puteri, Puchong for some groceries and by the time we got out, it was already dark. “Ini sudah mayam“, said Pasha…

On the way home, Mama Pasha spotted the Ayam Penyet AP restaurant. We stopped by for our dinner. The sign board said, Ibu Nor’s authentic ayam penyek and nasi padang. Sounded yummy…

Mama Pasha ordered ayam penyet and sayur asem and I ordered rawon…

Adehhh… Indah kabar dari rupa rupa dari rasa….

Mama Pasha said the ayam penyet or smashed chicken as translated in the menu was quite okay since she was already famished. My rawon or beef soup was terrible. It was a far cry from the real rawon from Surabaya that I had tasted… A really far cry… Tak sama langsung…

The food from left to right: rawon, sayur asem and ayam penyet.
The pictures are foggish due to the steam from the food…

I did taste a bit of the chicken and I would recommend the ayam penyet restaurant across the street from Sunway Pyramid… That place was a bit chaotic but the food was much better and tasted like the real ayam penyet…

The verdict… We would not go there for second time….

That’s the end of our Saturday outing…

Too Busy To Update

Posted on the October 29th, 2008 under Blog by

busyI have not been updating this blog for a few days now. I am around but I was just too busy to update and not too lazy to update. Why?

It was a long weekend with the Deepavali holiday that fell on Monday and during those days I was either out of the house or in the house but out of blogging. On Saturday, I went out with my family to an open house hosted by an ex-colleague somewhere in Kampung Subang and right after that, we went to get some shoes for my wife’s clients at SACC and Sunway Pyramid. By the time I got home, I was already too exhausted and watching Malaysia went down on penalty to Vietnam added to the no desire to update mood.

On Sunday, I had a fellow blogger, Lankapo and his family coming over for lunch and in the evening, the whole family went out to Jusco at Sunway Pyramid to top up our groceries and those were enough to take up any blogging time available.

Dinner at Tarbush

Posted on the October 29th, 2008 under Daily Living,Food & Health by

26th October 2008.

On the way returning the kiddie car rented for Pasha after finishing our grocery shopping at Jusco Sunway Pyramid, we passed by Tarbush Restaurant. Since it was already time for dinner and Mama Pasha has never been to Tarbush before, we decided to have our dinner there.

I have never been to this Sunway Pyramid branch but I have been to the branch in Bukit Bintang a few times before and I do like the kind of food they serve there. The Lebanese kind.

Pasha as usual could not sit still while waiting for the food that we ordered to come. If you look carefully at the first 3 photos above, there are two Shisha bottles at the background. Pasha managed to bring down the one on the right…

There was a small fountain right after the entrance and Pasha loved it as he is fond of anything that has some water in it. There were a number of pretty little fish inside the little pool below the fountain.

Our drinks arrived before the food. Mama Pasha ordered a glass of Honeydew Juice and Pasha drank half of it and I ordered the Arabic Tea. I love the warm minty tea and it’s served in that cute little kettle as shown above.

Finally our food arrived. We only ordered one main dish for Mama Pasha as based on experience the serving is quite big and enough for two people to enjoy.

Mama Pasha chose the Shish Tawook, juicy boneless chicken breast marinated and grilled, served with Tarbush Garlic Sauce (see the middle photo above. It was taken a bit too late as we were hungry and forgot to take a photo before we ate).

I just ordered and appetizer called Sambosa (I ordered the chicken filling as Mama Pasha does not eat lamb), which was not quite an appetizer as those deep-fried spring rolls may be enjoyed as a side dish or for snacks. (see the second photo).

The dishes came with a plate of pickled stuffs such as olives, celery and zucchinis and a few slices of fresh tomatoes and lemon. There was also a few slices of pita bread but we did not take a photo of that but you see the second last photo where i stuffed my pita bread with some pieces of Shish Tawook and some pickled stuffs.

All in all, it was a great and that did not cost that much for a filling dinner!
