About almost a month a go I posted a challenge to Tune Talk. They took it up and I was given a Tune Talk Mobile Prepaid Sim card with a RM 100 credit to play around with. The first thing that came to my mind was that I am going to finish that RM 100 credit in no time…

I made my plans. Local calls, IDD calls and Data services for Internet and mobile applications such as Facebook and Twitter. Basically all the things that I usually do with my other mobile prepaid provider.

How did it go? Firstly, for the title of this post, Tune Talk walks the talk, I am happy to say that they sure do! Secondly, if you go to their website and hover on the Tune Talk.com logo, you would be reading, “Tune Talk – The Cheapest Mobile Prepaid Service in Malaysia | Now we’re talking!” You’d better believe it since it is the truth!

I am not going to make you read lengthy praises or some over the moon stories about them. So, here is a summary of what you will get if you switch to Tune Talk. No kidding! I did!

Calls and SMS

1. Flat rate – 16  sen / minute for call and 5 sen / sms.
2. Voice calls are charge 60 second block.
3. This rate is applicable to any number.

So, you do not have to be bothered or confused about family plan, friends plan, pet plans or whatever plans like what other telcos are offering. So far this is definitely the cheapest in town. Mama Pasha is now using Tune Talk to call her family in Jakarta, Indonesia since it is the lowest rate compared to the others. No joke!

Data Usage

1. A minimum of 5 sen / MB / session.
2. Compare that to 10 sen / 10 kb that others are offering. Do your math!
3. No plan to subscribe. Just use!

This is really one of the sweetest things about Tune Talk. At 5 sen / 1024 kb (1 MB), please tell me any other cheaper rate that you can get. Remember that this is truly pay as you use and not some confusing data plans that others are selling to you.

No more annoying waiting time to get your plan activated and no more losing valuable credits for the time when the server screwed up your data plan activation. Happened to me a few times with other operators and I was charged the standard 10 sen / 10 kb rate. Imagine the horror of suddenly discovering that you have used up all the credits that you have just topped up…

The most I have got so far were some birthday wishes and vouchers that I found impossible to make use of… With Tune Talk, you will be really rewarded for your loyalty. I personally like the Tune Talk points and the SelfCare account! Points for AirAsia flights that will never expire and details of my phone usage! Nobody can beat that! None so far…

Things Tune Talk Needs to Improve

1. Data coverage. Still weak in some areas.
2. High Speed data. Some mobile apps on smartphone might not work.
3. MMS. A picture speaks a thousand words.
4. BlackBerry services.

3G is not available yet and the EDGE network can be very slow in certain areas. This may or may not be available in the future and it all depends on what Tune Talk wants to be.

In conclusion, after almost a month of doing things that I usually do with my prepaid mobile, I have not even used RM 50 yet! Go figure that! If you need a no frills prepaid mobile service, Tune Talk is definitely the best choice. If you want something fancy schmancy, then go and pay more for other services.

We went to Nuffnang office in KL to pick up our Tune Talk SIM card. Arrived at Jalan Yap Ah Shak and parked at the open space parking. Looked around and could not see anything that looked like Nuffnang. I asked the parking attendance and he pointed to a small shop house. He said many people who parked there would go to that place. Pandailah ko!

We stood in front of that place and still could not see anything familiar. Made a call and then we were told that it was in the tall building just next to the parking space. Now we know that building is called the Heritage House. Seriously, I was looking for something resembling a house…

Those are what we took back. A Tune Talk SIM Card and RM 100 worth of credit. Wait for the review on Tune Talk later. Thanks Nuffnang and stay tuned!

P/s:
The SIM card was not registered and I was not told about this by the Nuffnang staff. I had to check with the Tune Talk customer care and had to email them my copy of NRIC and few other details. So, do not top up your credit before you register, Hopefully next time Nuffnang staff would inform us when it comes to something such as this.

Talk about the telecommunication market in Malaysia and we have to settle for nothing but the Blue, Green and Yellow. Everyone knows that and remember those colors by hard as if they are all primary colors or something.

Then you, Tune Talk, come to the scene. Walking brazenly trotting your read colored package. WTF about your redness? A brave new contender, is it?

Talk is cheap. That’s what the others said and that’s what you need to prove. Dare you make promises and deliver them? Look at what you have said.

I was shocked to read about the attack by Israeli’s forces on the Turkish ship Mavi Marmara that was leading a convoy of six aid ships to blockaded Gaza. It was reported that at least 10 people were killed and many others injured. Then I was shocked to read about a 2 year old toddler in Indonesia who smokes up to 40 cigarettes a day! Wow! That boy shot to fame instantly. I think some of his videos on YouTube has been removed but I managed to find one video at Break.com here: http://www.break.com/index/two-year-old-toddler-smokes-cigarettes.html

When you watch the video, you would be amazed that he smokes like a pro! According to the news, the parents could not do anything as he would throw a tantrum if he doesn’t get his smoke. Talk about addiction at a shocking level…

According to the Chairman of the National Commission for Child Protection in Indonesia, Seto Mulyadi , “Smoking has been a part of our culture for so long it isn’t perceived as being hazardous, as causing illness, as poisonous.” “A lot of adults who are around children will smoke. They will carry a baby in one hand and a cigarette in another. Even mothers don’t understand that they are poisoning their children.”

True enough!  That’s the main reason that we stopped taking ferry from Port Klang to Dumai and choose to go via Melaka instead… I wonder what will happen to Aldi next… Smokers out there, what say you?

Well, enough of shocking stuffs… To lessen the shocking impact, let me change to a happier topic. I just remembered that I have not banked in the check from Nuffnang received in March 2010. It was for my second cash out this year. Another cash out is expected this month and with that, I have already paid for my hosting… Thanks Nuffnang!

What can I buy with that amount? Definitely cigarette would not be in my list… I can use that for one week of petrol or one week of toll to go to work… Or buy a new mouse to replace the one that I just bought tonight for RM12.90 at Tesco since I just realized that a cheap mouse is a retarded mouse… It could not move smoothly and that’s annoying. Nevertheless, it is still not shocking…

We had a ball at the Nuffnang Friso Family Day Out at Kizsports & Gym, One Utama Shopping Centre last Saturday, 29th November 2008. That was the first time for us attending such a big event with our son, Pasha. We were wondering how he would bring himself among the other adults and children but it turned out to be one of the most enjoyable time in his life as well as for us.

Before we go on to the post, we would like to thank Nuffnang and Friso for making this event a blast. We would also like to thank Kizsports & Gym for the great place and friendly staffs. We did not get the chance to chit chat or mingle with other bloggers as we had been too busy chasing after our son. However, it was nice when we met Lankapo and family as well as Gartblue and family there! We would also like to congratulate Sawanila for winning the grand prize!

Right after the registration,  Pasha had to change into his Nuffnang Friso t-shirt and then we had a family photo shoot at the entrance. That marked the beginning of a great time ahead!

Speaking about having a ball, Pasha was really having lots of fun with those colorful balls that they had over there.

There was something about those balls that made children go crazy! Here are more pictures at the colorful balls area.

The combination of the slide and those colorful balls were really a great idea! We could have let him stayed there for the whole day and he would not mind it at all.

They had an area for the younger kids and there were more slides and balls there too! My son was in a kid’s heaven that day!

There was this huge playing area in the middle of the place where kids and parents had to climb up and the go down some slides. Mama Diah had to follow Pasha up as Papa Bear was too heavy for that stunt…

They went up and they came down! What a pure fun to have! At least Pasha and Mama had no problems with height….

Then we had a group activity but Pasha decided that he would not really take part. He was already sleepy and at the same time, he preferred those colorful balls and slides outside the activity room… There went our chance of winning a hamper…

Once out of the room, we took Pasha to the swing and he had a jolly good time swinging away…

We missed the talks by a nutritionist and a mommy blogger as Pasha wanted to play with those colorful balls again…

At 12 noon we had lunch. Pasha did not join the kids lunch but was with us instead. Notice the Ducth Lady Iced Latte above. We had a free flow of those during the event. For lunch we had some noodles, nasi lemak, chicken curry, puffs and and a few other things… Before that Pasha joined the coloring contest but he was not interested in coloring. He was more interested in arranging the crayons into the box…

The Magic Show took place right after lunch but Pasha decided to take a nap and he fell asleep on my shoulder and then Mama took over…

After he woke up from his nap, he asked the mother to join him to do the climb and slide again… He had fully recharged and that was the last thing for him to play before we bid farewell to Kizsport…

Anybody else coming?

How do you make a 1½ year toddler sit still for about a minute? We have no idea. We do not seem to figure out a way to do that so far. That’s how active our son, Pasha, is. The only time that he stops doing something is when he is asleep.

When he wakes up, he would want to get out of the room. Once he is out of the room, he wants to get out of the house. The house is now too small for him and I guess he could not find any new thing and place to explore in the house anymore and he has seen enough of our faces already.

He loves getting out of the house. He loves getting into the car and going out for a drive somewhere. He knows when the weekends are here and he knows what to expect during the weekends. Every morning, before I leave for work, I would always tell him that we would only take him out during the weekends and surprisingly, he remembers that well.

He loves the trip to the hypermarkets and the mega malls. He would become excited as soon as he sees the familiar entrance to those places and once inside, he feels that he is in heaven! The presence of other kids and abundance of stuffs for him to touch and carry around in his own shopping basket can easily make his day. He would never get bored there…

So, because of that, we have to make plans for the weekends. We have to take him somewhere as a reward for being so understanding that Papa has got to go to work during the weekdays. He does not really mind where we take him as long as it is out of the house. All he needs is to see some new faces, to say hello to other kids and some open space where he can run as much as he wishes.

Today we saw the Nuffnang Friso Family Day Out event. We’re simply elated! This is the kind of event that we would love him to attend. This is where he would be able to meet and play with lots of kids of about his age. It would be an awesome experience for him especially at this stage where he is learning about relationship, friendship and the big idea about socialization. This is something that we have been thinking of for a long time and now our prayers have been answered.

Apart from the great time that he would definitely have there, the event would be an opportunity for us as parents to spend some great quality time with our children. This would be a chance for us to bond with our child while learning about nutrition and sharing some parenting experiences. Those are the reasons why a family day is really important for our children!

This could be our first big event where three of us would be participating as a family and it would definitely be something that is too important to miss!
